We gathered data from different charity evaluators. Check out Our Sources here to see which exactly. The charity evaluators probably either did not evaluate your favourite charity or it did not provide enough information about your favourite charity so that our algorithm can not match it properly.

If your country is not selectable, that means we do not have a charity in our database that operates in that region. You can consider either not setting a preference for a country or seeing if you can find a charity that works on the continent you want it to.

If your favourite topic is not selectable, that means we do not have a charity in our database that works on that issue.

Charities that work on preventing existential crises for humanity (f.e. climate change, nuclear war) are x-crisis-charities and will be shown if you select "yes".

Cost-efficiency is a way to measure how much good a charity does for a set amount of money. This is important because the amount of good charities can do with a given amount of money can be hugely different. Cost-efficiency can take into account the spendings on administrative work, how much room for funding a charity has and much more. When you (the user) set your preferences in our questionaire our algorithm assigns a value to each of your inputs. Then, these scores get matched to charities, that exactly match your preferences. Each item contributes to the "similarity score", i.e. how similar the charity is to your preference. In a second step, the algorithem determines, which charities are the next closest matches, using the assigned values as a basis for vector distance calculations. It then ranks the charities it found based on the similarity score and shows you the once most closely matchin all your criteria.
